I don't think this author understands this subject. I have learned Christ another way. I have been baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT for 18 years and I know better.
Great read. This was the beginning I needed to learn more about these gifts.
The author thinks that many of the gifts of the spirit. Knowledge, wisdom, miracles, healing, etc has no place in todays church. We are still fighting evil and also wittnessing to non believers. I know healing,prophecy, knowledge, discerment, and wisdom are still active through personal experiences in myself and others walking with christ. None of the gifts will ever contradict or add to the word but they are still very necessary. The author is correct in one facet. God decides when how and who uses these gifts and that not everyone will have the same gifts. It is also god that gives his power or withholds it. Everytime you pray will not always result in healing . The ultimate form of healing may be in fact peacefull death. There are also some charlatans led by evil spirits which may try to mimic true gifts while dividing people from god. I believe the author has no true understanding of the gifts of the spirit. All true christians have atleast one or more gifts of the spirit and they may not always be active and god can change them as he has need. We as true believers are conduits for his awesome work. We are just blessed with the experience but have no control. We do not lead. But let god by giving our body mind and soul to his control. We as christians still sin and fail but sometimes it is great we relinquish it all to god and get to be a part of his mighty work.
This author has truly witnessed supernatural divine presence of the LORD. When I was reading his section on speaking in tongues, I was amazed. I speak in tongues and the way he described it and explained it was right on. Also, he gives detailed answers to questions that people might have but are too shy to ask. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a closer relationship with Jesus.
